Your right the single date late indicates from what I have read a pre 1860 date. There appear to be lots of variations of the Wedgewood stamp, periods with no production of Jasperware and no indication of what year that letter relates to if it is a date code at all. There is lots on the web to get through, although lots appear to be copies of other data so do check the facts are that and not a mistake copied across multiple sites (it happens).I would be interested to hear if you get closer to a firm date.
The two choices you have given 1895 or 1868 sound about right. Based on the size, its intended use I would have guessed 1870's so 1868 would be a good choice.
1895 is a bit late for these larger metal mounted barrels.
The risk of giving birth to babies with genetic defects as a result of marriages between first cousins is no greater than that run by women over 40 who become pregnant, according to two scientists who call for the taboo on first-cousin families to be lifted.
Women in their forties are not made to feel guilty about having babies and the same should apply to cousins who want to marry, said Professor Diane Paul of the University of Massachusetts in Boston and Professor Hamish Spencer of the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Ultimately the firm became known as "Unicorn Potteries".
There seems to be a lot of sellers on ebay trying to pass off their wares as J. There is nothing wrong with Wedgwood & Co as a company, they made nice quality wares and weren't trying to fool anyone - after all we should all be allowed to call a company by our own name (the different branches of the family had been making china tableware in Stoke for countless generations before Josiah bigged it up). From 1898 To 1906 the letters used from 1872 to 1880 re-occur (A - I) But England should appear on the piece. Wedgwood," but wanted to know from about what year it would be. From 1906, the sequence was continued, but the number '3' replaces the first letter, and from 1924, a '4' replaces the '3'. I don' reparto de t con las valuaciones dentro de esta sección - que está sobre la identificación de la marca de la cerámica. Quality does vary in what's available but prices are very low with lots of choice for collectors. The reason being that it only has a single letter mark rather that a 3 character date mark. The 'X' under the Wedgwood name looks more like potters marks rather than a date mark - the single impressed character mark could be a J or a C or even a U.
